About

Do you love technology? Do you like to tinker? Do you want to understand more about how things (and the universe) work? Are you interested in information security? Any of these topics are discussed, and people from all professions and interests attend. Then come on by. Now meeting the first Friday of each month from 5-8 pm at The Station Coffee House.

For those of you not familiar with 2600 Magazine, you could visit the Wikipedia page about 2600 Magazine website to get a quick rundown.

The meetings include discussions and demonstrations on topics that range widely. Anything to do with hacking in both the old positive sense of the word (understanding, playing with, and using technologies in a way not originally intended), and the media-modified negative version of the word (hackers now being synonymous now with computer criminals (FYI, Bill Gates & Steve Jobs were considered "hackers" originally), how to hack, how to deal with "hackers", etc. This isn't just for computers, it can be phones, cameras, radios, the list is very broad.

There were some meetings at the Spokane North Town Mall, but they appear to have died off completely.

The hope with this website is to get meetings rolling again in the area, or if there are meetings still occurring, but are not being well publicized, to have those meeting members post their time and locations so others may join and/or consolidate our resources.

Remember, all standard 2600 meetings are on the 1st Friday of each month typically between 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm local time (in this case Pacific time).

I'll start printing up flyers to try to get distributed into the local 2600 magazines at the local bookstores to get the word out for the October meeting. Meanwhile, you can spread the word, and hook up with everyone in the chatrooms and/or email lists.

Let's get a new meeting group going here in the Spokane area!

Time: Meet on 1st Friday each month at 5:00 pm (to 7:00 or 8:00 pm or later for those who wish to stay longer of course).

Location: The Coffee Station in North Spokane on 9315 N. Nevada - click to see map.
